Thursday, March 121. Romeo and Juliet Anticipation Guide
Students finished yesterday's handout, and we discussed answers as a class. 2. Shakespeare Notes Students took notes on the Elizabethan Era, Shakespeare, and his plays. 3. Sonnets & Iambic Pantameter Video Students watched a video on the above material. 4. Prologue Analysis As a class, we began analyzing the prologue to R&J together. Students then worked in their groups to translate Shakespeare's words into modern-day language. We broke down this prologue and predicted what will happen within the play, as well as discussed the purpose of the prologue.

Wednesday, March 111. Vocabulary Quiz
Students took a quiz on list 3 vocabulary words. 2. Personalization After turning in their quizzes, students had their personalization time to turn in missing work, the Odyssey study guide, and finish up their essays. 3. Romeo and Juliet Anticipation Guide Students filled out a guide that prompted them to agree or disagree with statements, then explain their opinion. We discussed answers as a class. Students played a review game to help prepare them for tomorrow's vocabulary quiz. 2. Computer Lab- Final Day Students worked in the lab to make final edits to their papers after receiving rough draft feedback. Students also received instruction on how to properly format their paper (MLA format). HW: KEEP WORKING ON PAPER! DUE TOMORROW NIGHT AT 11:59 PM THROUGH GOOGLE CLASSROOM! Friday, March 61. Introduction & Conclusion Review
As a class, we went over what goes into a introduction paragraph and a conclusion paragraph. Students are able to access the PowerPoints of these topics on our Google Classroom. 2. Computer Lab Students had the rest of time to continue working on their papers- the goal being to write the intro and conclusion. 3. Rough Draft Questions By the end of the class period, students should have left three specific questions on their essay rough drafts for me to comment and reply to as a way to give feedback. Students will use my replies and comments on Tuesday (editing day). The instructions for this can also be found on our Google Classroom. Thursday, March 51. Computer Lab
Students worked on completing the body paragraphs of the hero definition essay. Wednesday, March 41. Finish The Odyssey
We wrapped up Part 4, and students were given time to work on the final study guide. These will be due by the end of the unit. 2. Thesis Statements As a class, we reviewed thesis statements, and students were led through crafting one for their definition papers. 3. Computer Lab We spent the remainder of class starting to due further research and begin typing the first body paragraph of the definition papers. Tuesday, March 31. 1. Vocabulary Quiz 2
Students had five minutes after the bell to study before taking our vocabulary quiz. 2. Vocabulary List 3 Students received a new list of vocabulary words. As a class, we discussed each word and its definition. 3. The Odyssey As a class, we reviewed Part 3 of the epic, and students worked on completing the Part 3 reading guide. Afterwards, we read Part 4 together with the study guide. 4. Definition Paper Planning Students worked on the last few steps of planning their definition papers before the drafting process begins. Students were given time to work on and complete the Part 2 Reading Guide as well. Afterwards, we read Part 3 as a class, along with answering reading guide questions. 3. Definition Essay Outline Students worked through the first two steps of the planning portion of preparing for the definition paper. Friday, February 281. Vocabulary Practice
Students were given a handout that allowed for them to practice with their vocabulary words. 2. The Odyssey Part 1 As a class, we reviewed what happened in Part 1 of the epic, and students were given time to finish the study guide. 3. Part 2 As a class, we read Part 2 of the epic, pausing to discuss, analyze, and work on the study guide. 4. Students received information on what the major assessment will be for this new unit: a definition paper. The type of essay, as well as the topic and steps were briefly discussed just as a way for students to see the end goal of the unit. 2. Background Info: The Odyssey We are starting the above epic today and needed some background information before diving in! 3. Starting The Odyssey As a class, we read Part 1 of the epic, and students filled out a study guide as we read. We paused and discussed along the way, and students had time to complete the study guide for Part 1 at the end of class. |
